BAND

Prerequisite: Prior instrumental music experience preferred/permission of instructor.
Instrumental Music students will be exposed to a wide variety of music styles and are encouraged to take part in small groups. Instruction is given in marching band during the first nine weeks and concert band begins after the completion of the fall marching season. The jazz band is formed from members of the concert band. Concerts, contests, clinics, and other performances are required. Students must purchase their own band shoes and any supplies, upkeep, and repairs to their instruments. A $20.00 fee will be assessed for the cleaning of uniforms. A $15.00 per semester fee is charged to students that are planning to rent a school owned instrument. Prior instrumental music experience is preferred, usually through playing in Jr. High Band. However, students with limited group performance experience may still join with the Director's approval.
CHORUS

Prerequisite: Prior vocal music experience is helpful, but all students are accepted.
Chorus students will increase their knowledge of how to sing in groups and match pitches. Students will become familiar with music from all eras of history, and several different cultures. Performance at concerts, conference clinic, and the Boone Central Choral Clinic are included in the course requirements. Members may try out for special groups, and individual lessons are available from the instructor. A fee will be assessed for the cleaning of the choir robe.
