COLLEGE VISITATIONS Visitations to colleges or vocational schools are limited to a maximum of three visits to be taken during the junior and senior years. These visits are to be cooperatively planned with the parents, student, counselor, and the school to be visited. Students must be in good standing, not scholastically ineligible, in order to be excused for college visitation. Written authorization of the parent is necessary and pre-excused (blue slips) are required. College visitations are not approved after April 1. If the guidelines are not followed and you take a day off to visit a college it will be counted against your attendance.

COLLEGE ADMISSION STANDARDS Admission standards vary from college to college. The counselors will be able to provide you with the latest requirements. Registration for ACT, SAT, and ASSET tests is the responsibility of the individual student. The following list is a standard recommendation for most colleges.

English 4 units All must include intensive reading and writing experiences.

Foreign Language 2 units Of one foreign language.

Mathematics 4 units Must include Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and one additional unit that builds on a knowledge of algebra.

Natural Sciences 3 units Includes at least 2 units selected from biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences. One of the units must include laboratory instruction.

Social Sciences 3 units At least one unit of American and/or world history and one additional unit of history, American government, and/or geography.

For assured admission, a graduate must also graduate in the upper one-half of your class AND have an ACT composite score of 20 or higher, or an SAT combined score of 850. Check with the guidance counselors for further information on entry requirements for specific colleges or universities and for specific programs of study within those institutions.
