GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
235 hours of credit
40 semester hours of English to include:
10 semester hours of either English 9 or Freshman English
10 semester hours of either English 10 or Sophomore English
10 semester hours of either English 11 or Junior English
10 semester hours of either English 12 or Senior English
5 hours of Speech
30 semester hours of Social Studies to include:
10 semester hours of World History
10 semester hours of American History
10 semester hours of American Government/Modern Problems
30 semester hours of Mathematics
30 semester hours of Science
10 semester hours of Physical Education
10 semester hours of Computers
80 semester hours of courses selected from other course offerings
It is recommended that the student select a program of study that will prepare them for additional education in the career of choice. A student will benefit from courses selected from a variety of electives including music, the arts, vocational courses, computers, foreign language, and additional training in the basics.
Boone Central High School accepts credits earned by a student from a high school approved or accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education or similar department of another state. While enrolled at Boone Central High School, a student may earn no more than thirty credit hours toward graduation requirements through correspondence courses. No more than fifteen of these thirty may be in one specific content area. Students who are placed in any special program by the administration may be allowed to deviate from this rule while in that assigned special program.
GRADUATION WITH HONORS
Recognition of the top ten percent(rounded up) of the graduating class will be made at commencement exercises.
GRADUATION PARTICIPATION
Seniors will be allowed to participate in commencement exercises if they would have been able to meet graduation requirements by successfully completing second semester classes. Commencement exercises will not be referred to as graduation exercises nor will the participants be referred to as graduates unless all participants have met the District requirements for graduation by the day of the ceremony.
HONORS CONVOCATION
An Honors Convocation will be held each spring to honor those students who have earned special awards and recognitions during the year. Each year the faculty selects one senior to receive the outstanding student award who has, in their judgment, contributed the most to the Boone Central School District.
