ITED, PLAN and PSAT Tests

ITED

The ITED is the test used as the district's assessment tool. Juniors participate in this test. The test assesses a student's ability in the areas of vocabulary, reading comprehension, spelling, revising written materials, concepts & problem solving, computation, social studies, science, sources of information, and critical thinking.

The ITED will enable the district to assess the quality of the curriculum being taught as well as the student's ability in each content area. Student's are encouraged to give their best effort as it may impact their course offerings.

PLAN

The PLAN is an assessment tool taken by sophomores in October. Whether students are considering post-secondary education, planning to enter the workplace, seeking vocational training, or still making post-high school plans, the PLAN gives them important information to help them prepare for the future.

The PLAN is similar to an ACT Test taken annually by approximately two thirds of CHS Juniors and Seniors. The ACT is used for admission to Colleges, scholarship selection, athletic eligibility, and advising for course selection in college. The PLAN is an important tool as the majority of our students who enroll in any form of post secondary education take the ACT Test rather than the SAT.

The PLAN consists of:
1. Four academic tests
2. An interest inventory
3. A study skills assessment
4. A student information section

PSAT

The PSAT test is an optional test taken by Juniors in October. Sophomores who have a 3.8 GPA may also take the PSAT. It is a multiple choice test that measures verbal and math abilities important for college. It is not a required test for college admission. Juniors who take it will be in competition for National Merit Scholarships.
