TemPOrarY INsaNiTieS
Home
Each of us (that includes yours truly) will at some point this year go
temporarily insane. You might forget your writing assignment or study
guide at home. You may even neglect to complete an assignment-- GASP!!!!
To
accomodate for these occasional mishaps, I am issuing you a temporary
insanity. If you happen to forget an assignment, you can use your
insanity to keep from being penalized late points. You can only use
your insanity one time each quarter. If you do not use your insanity
during the quarter and you have no other late assignments, you will earn one percentage point of extra credit.
You may not use your temporary insanity to postpone taking tests or quizzes which you have not properly prepared for.
You may not use your temporary insanity on long term projects. I will
let you know when a project is assigned if you will not be allowed to
use a temporary insanity.
The
temporary insanity may only be used on one assignment. If multiple
assignments are due and you have none of them, pick an assignment to
use the insanity for and the rest of the assignments will be penalized
the usual late points.
The
insanity card will give you ONE additional day to turn in an assignment
without being penalized late points. You are still required to turn in
the assignment!
DIRECTIONS for using a temporary insanity:
1. On a sheet of paper, write a letter something like this:
Dear Mrs. Kuhl,
I
have temporarily lost my mind. I forgot how important English is to me
and I do not have this assignment _________________________. I simply
must use my temporary insanity. Rest assured that I will come to my
senses and I will turn in my assignment tomorrow.
Regretfully,
Your Name
2. When the rest of the class hands in the assignment, bow your head in shame and pass your temporary insanity forward.
3.
When I sit down to grade papers, I will see your insanity. I will then
put a check in my gradebook to indicate that you have used your
temporary insanity.
You cannot have your
temporary insanity back if you decide not to complete the assignment.
Once you have taken your insanity opportunity, it is gone until the
next 9-week period.
