Class Expectations

Home

Welcome to Mrs. Kuhl's English class!

book drop2:

I'd like to advise you of my expectations for my class, so let's begin:

Grades:
1. Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated.
2. You are responsible for make-up work after an absence. I will collect worksheets and quizzes for you in a folder, but it will be your job to check the folder for them and check with me for any additional missed assignments. Tests may be made up before or after school, or on Fridays during AR time. In regard to class assignments, you will be given two days per each day you have been absent to make up assignments. Assignments not completed in this time frame will be given a "0".
3. You will be evaluated on quizzes, writing assignments, vocabulary/spelling work and tests, literature tests, group activities, oral presentations, and other assignments. The grading scale is the same one used throughout the school.
4. Late work in this class is anything turned in after I've collected an assignment-- even if work is turned in later that period, it's still late. For every day that an assignment is late, you will receive a 20% deduction in the grade.

Leaving Class:
5. Try to take care of any "business" before entering the classroom. In the event that you need to leave class, your planner will serve as your pass.

Behavior:(All school rules apply in addition to the following)
6. Always bring your materials to class.
7. Be respectful of me, your classmates, and yourself.
8. Please raise your hand if you have questions or comments.
9. Show respect to those talking by listening to them. When you are talking, we'll show you the same respect.

Discipline Relating to Behavior:
10. As much as possible, discipline will be handled with verbal warnings.
11. Individuals who continue to disrupt the class will be given detentions.

Supplies for Class:
notebook for journal (This notebook is for your journal only!)
notebook or loose leaf paper for class notes
three-ring binder
pens/pencils

I know that we're going to have a great year!
