Current Events Best Careers of 2008Summer 2008 Medication Aide Course is being offered June 18-Aug 27 at Central Community College, Room 213, West Education Center. Must pre-register at 562-1293 - only 25 spots available; Cost is $260 - "The ASSET test has been rescheduled." Sophomores and interested Juniors and Seniors will be taking the ASSET test on Friday, May 9th during the morning (possibly in the overflow room). The ASSET test is used to be accepted into a community college. Students test in reading and math. It is important for students to test the best they can so as to prevent them from having to take lower level Math and English classes in college. Students can retest at the community colleges at most any time. This test is also necessary if a Sophomore is planning on taking an early entry college class next year as a Junior and they haven't taken the ACT.
- The June 14th ACT date has a registration deadline of May 9th! Students may use a packet from my office to register or go online at www.actstudent.org 55% of students who retake the ACT improve their scores (22% score the same and 23% see their scores decrease) But, students remember - the ACT is a test you can study and prepare for!!!

- AHEC Summer Health Careers Camp is now taking applications for two locations in June - Norfolk and Fremont. Students can get the forms from me; available to students in grades 8-12 of this year; cost is approx. $50 for 5 days, not overnight. Space is limited and applications are due by May 9th. Excellent opportunity to learn about health possibilities!
- 2008 Application for Nomination to the US Service Academies
- if you are interested in attending the US Military, Naval, Air Force or Marine academies-must submit a written request to a US Senator/ you may then be nominated; service academy classes begin July 2009-for is in filing cabinet, must be received by October 31, 2008
