Current Events
Fall 2004
Criteria:Current event are a weekly assignment in this class. I do not need a copy of your article, but I would like for you to write a 1-paragraph summary of the article and a 1-paragraph personal reflection on the article (do not cut and paste your article summary, that would be cheating). For the sake of grading, a paragraph is a minimum of 4 well-constructed sentences. Within your reflection, explain your position on the article and your reason for your position.
Current events are worth 18 point each. Points will be deducted for late work, missing summaries or personal reflections, or incomplete headings. Current events are due every Wednesday unless specified. You may check the chalkboard for the due dates.
Page Heading:You will also need the following information for your heading:
The name of the newspaper, magazine, or internet website address)The title of the article
The date of the article¢â¡Ás publication (No T.V. summaries please)
The topic number of your current event
Additional Reminders:Write your current event on loose-leaf paper
Upon receiving your graded current event, please place it in your 3 ring binder or folder. At the end of the semester I will give another 18 points for having all of your current events. At the end of the semester you should have a total of 18 current events.
All articles should come from 2001-2003.
Below is a list of topics that you will be finding articles for. Your current event entries must come from this list. Once you have found an article for a topic, please check it off the list to avoid repeating the same topic.
