Sociology Current Events
Fall 2005
Criteria:
Current events are a bi-weekly requirement of Sociology class. I will need a copy of your article, but I would like for you to write a 1-paragraph summary of the article (do not cut and paste your article summary, that would be cheating) and a 1-paragraph personal reflection on the article. For the sake of grading, a paragraph is a minimum of 4 well constructive sentences. Within your reflection, explain your position on the article and your reason for your position.
Current events are worth 18 points each. Points will be deducted for late work, missing summaries or personal reflections, or incomplete headings. Currents events are due every other Friday unless specified. You may check the chalkboard for the due dates and topics.
Page Heading:
You will also need the following information for your heading:
The title of the article
The name of the newspaper, magazine, or internet website
The date of the articles publication
The topic number of your current event.
Additional Reminders:
Write your current event on loose-leaf paper.
Upon receiving your graded current event, please place it in a folder or 3-ring binder. At the end of the semester I will give another 18 points for having all of your current events.
All articles should come from 2002-2005 (unless specified).
Below is a list of topics that you will be finding articles for. Your current event entries must come from this list. Once you have found an article for a topic, please check it off the list to avoid repeating the same topic.
