Current Event Journal
World History
Fall 2005
Criteria:
Current event are a weekly assignment in this class. I will need a copy of your article, but I would like for you to write a 1-paragraph summary of the article and a 1-paragraph personal reflection on the article (do not cut and paste your article summary, that would be cheating). For the sake of grading, a paragraph is a minimum of 4 well-constructed sentences. Within your reflection, explain your position on the article and your reason for your position.
Current events are worth 18 point each. Points will be deducted for late work, missing summaries or personal reflections, or incomplete headings. Current events are due every Tuesday unless specified. You may check the chalkboard for the due dates.
Page Heading:
You will also need the following information for your heading:
The title of the article
The name of the newspaper, magazine, or internet website (address)
The date of the article¢â¡Ás publication (No T.V. summaries please)
The topic number of your current event
Additional Reminders:
Write your current event on loose-leaf paper
Upon receiving your graded current event, please place it in your 3 ring binder or folder. At the end of the semester I will give another 18 points for having all of your current events. At the end of the semester you should have a total of 18 current events.
