Notes & Classroom Work: Students will be accountable for all material that is presented in class. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE NOTES AND THAT THESE NOTES BE IN THEIR OWN HANDWRITING. Grades will be taken on notes (including guided readings){See the Interactive Notebook handout}. Students who are absent are responsible for getting themselves caught up. If a students is absent from class then returns to school, they need to check in with Mrs. Policky for any homework or notes that they missed.

Students will be assigned work to be completed during class. This work may be treated like homework and grades may be taken. Students may not work on other class work unless given permission by the teacher.

Homework: Homework is not a punishment! The purpose of homework is to allow the student an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the concept that is being taught. Assigned homework will need to be completed on the date that it is due. Any assignment that is submitted ONE DAY LATE will have 10% of the total grade deducted. Assignments that are turned in OVER ONE DAY LATE, will receive a grade of ZERO. Students are responsible for keeping track of their assignments whether they are present or absent from class.

Students who need a quiet place to complete their homework or in need of computer time are welcomed to come in before or after school.

Quiz and Test Re-take Policy: Re-takes of a quiz or test is limited to ONE each quarter, with the maximum score of 70%. A student will be allowed to re-take a quiz or test before or after school on a day determined by the teacher and student. All retakes need to be made up within 5 school days or the original test. There will be no re-takes given on quarter or semester tests.

Cheating: Cheating on a test, quiz, homework, project, research paper, or classroom work will not be tolerated. Any student who is caught cheating will be given a ZERO on that work and forfeit any opportunity to re-take or redo the work. Mrs. Policky explained the rules and guidelines for this class on _______(DATE). I understand these rules and guidelines and I will share this information with my parents.
