Current Events for U.S. History II and Government

Home About

Criteria: Current Events are a weekly assignment in this class. I wiill need a copy of your article, but I would like for you to write a 1-paragraph summary of the article and a 1-paragraph personal reflection on the article (do not cut and paste you article summary, that would be cheating). For the sake of grading, a paragraph is a minimum of 4 well-constructed sentences. Within your reflection, explain your position on the article and your reason for your position.

Current events are worth 18 points each. Points will be deducted for late work, missing summaries or personal refections, or imcomplete headings. Current events are due every Wednesday unless specified. You may check the chalkboard for the due dates.

Page Heading: You will need the following information for your heading:

  • The title of the article
  • The name of the newspaper, magazine or internet website (the complete address)
  • The date of the article's publication (no T.V. summaries please)
  • The topic number of your current event
