STUDY HALL GUIDELINES

At the beginning of the period students will go directly to their assigned seats. Students will show respect towards their peers and supportive staff supervisors. Students will reamin seated and wait quietly for staff directives and then respond appropriately to these directives. Students will be required daily to have their assignments legibly written in their agendas. Supervising staff will daily provide a written outline of assignments on the board. Supervising staff and students will check agendas at the beginning of the period noting if written assignments are documneted correctly. Students will work on assignments requested by the supervising staff at the time of their request. Cooperative group strategies may be used to work on an assignment; this may include reading together, dividing questions to be answered within the group and sharing answers within the group, section readings in pairs and then students share information with group, etc. All students must participate in cooperative group strategies by disscussion, reading, or answering questions. Daily, at he end of the period or after assignments are completed, supervising staff and students will check off completed assignments in the agendas. Supervising staff will request students to show completed assignments done outside of study hall to be checked off in the agendas. Students will circle the incomplete assignments in red to be completed as homework. Supervising staff will initial the agenda and write any notations,c oncerns, or explanations to inform parents of students daily progress. Supervising staff and students will organize materials to be taken home, by placing the needed materials in the students bookbags. Students must take their agendas home daily and have their parents review homework assignments and daily progress. Students will review their agendas daily with their parents. Parents will indicate they have seen their child's agenda by initialing the agenda. Parents written concerns or comments are greatly appreciated.

CONSEQUENCES FOR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR OR NOT USING STUDY OR READING TIME APPROPRIATELY:

Students will be placed in a differrent study hall WITHOUT the assistance of resource staff for the duration of the remaining quarter.

Termination from study hall will be solely based upon the supervising staff members recommendation.

When the new quarter begins the student will have the option to return to the study hall or remain in the study hall he or she has been placed in.
