About
In the Computer Lab there is a whole host of things
that occur. This past year students further progressed their
keyboarding skills and many of them had their name put on the Ultra Key Wall of Fame.
I have been asked what are some things that can be done to increase
speed and accuracy. Often times when there is no specific program
at home on the computer, I suggest that choosing a simple text sample such
as from a book or newspaper and use a clock for timing is
adequate for home practice. In time through this extra
practice both accuracy and speed can be improved. Typing
assignments was a valuable tool when working on typing skills.
Accelerated Reader is now up and running in
the lab and in the classrooms. Many students at the end of the
school year were able to work on this program and test their knowledge
of reading comprehension. This fall you will be able to get the
reading lists from Mrs. Brega that will be apart of our reading
incentive program this year. Come a visit the library site this fall.
Also this year grades one through six worked
on slide shows. It was quite an evolution and by the end of the
year all the students showed their accomplishments in this area.
I appreciated their effort in this assignment. Upper grades also
worked on Excel along with Power Point.

Another new item this year was the monthly
newsletter. It has been wonderful to see how the students and
their writings progressed throughout this last year. The primary
focus was to share with parents some of the happenings that occurred
throughout the year. Fun pictures and of course stories were
written by students. Sixth graders wrote many of the stories,
however, other grades also took part and shared some of the experiences
they had here at Saint Isidore this past year. I look forward to
sharing more of the happenings this next school year. Please visit again!
