Spam Mail  - still forward spam messages to spamcop@esu7.org

ESU7:
Smart Filter
The new release will be implemented September 9, 2005. District administrators will be given a password for overrides like BESS.  402N will be first since they are the largest. ESU will control the Smart Filter.  Cost of Smart Filter is $1.10 per computer for the next 3 years.  Send any requests for overrides to sepeters@esu7.org. ; Please include in the email that you have administrative approval.  Always ask your teacher for the category their site is being blocked under and include that in the email so we can keep track.

Firewall
  •   Installations have been scheduled
  •   5 port switch (10/100 auto sensing switch) is required  (approx $30.00 )

64 bit computing
  • If your system is in 64 bit, your applications need to be in 64 bit
  • New apple machines can do 64 or 32 bit
  • For questions on compatibility, send Dan an email

DHCP Troubleshooting
  • Server process that allows IP address distribution
  • 169 address is a self-assigned address.  If you get that address, it typically indicates a connection error.  Enter a static IP

Internet Access - eRate

  • Can no longer have modems connecting home computers to the schoo
