MATERIALS: 

1 1/2" - 3 ring binder with name on the spine. 

 To include the following: 

 1. Reading Log

 2. Student Reading Plan 

 3. Syllabus paper 

 4. TOPS reports and vocabulary paper

 5. Power Lessons 

 6. Other worksheets, writings and projects 

 7. Loose leaf paper for vocabulary words 

READING LOG AND OUT OF CLASS READING - 15% OF THE GRADE 

  a. Kept current each day. 

 b. Out of class reading slips must be filled out and returned  on the last day of the week, 

A minumum of 60 pages must be read per week. It is worth 5 points. 

VOCABULARY, QUIZZES, AND POINTS EARNED - 70% OF THE GRADE 

 a. Quizzes will be taken during class. 

 b. The vocabulary must be recited to me before taking a quiz. 

 Five vocabulary words must be written in the following manner: 

 -Your name, Title of the book, Author, and date on the first line.

 - The vocabulary word 

 - Part of speech as used in the sentence. 

 - Correct definition to agree with the part of speech.

 - Put the page number of the word in the margin

 - Student must be able to pronounce the word before taking the quiz. 

 c. Student can read only 2 books by the same author in each quarter 

BEHAVIOR POINTS, POWER LESSONS, PROJECTS -15% OF THE GRADE 

 Behavior Requirements:

 1. Be quiet and respectful to others

 2. Consequences for extreme misbehavior will result in a referral and  you will be sent to the office.

 Extreme misbehaviors include:

 a. Disrupting the class with talking, sounds, or movements inappropriate to the learning enviornment.

 b. Disrespect to Mrs. Wragge

 c. Any other situation I feel requires a referral in order to keep a quiet learning environment.

 POWER LESSONS:

 1. These lessons are presented in class and will require a written assignment

 Most lessons are worth 20 points.

PROJECTS:

 a. One of the following must be completed each quarter. The paper will be typed

 using the following instructions. It must be in Times New Roman font #14 and 

 doubled spaced - not bold print. The margins are 1 inch - top and bottom. Your

 name, the title of the book and the author must appear on the first line in the same

 font and size. All projects must be in black ink.

 1st Quarter-

 A 1 page summary of a book read this quarter. Must be typed.  Follow the typing instructions 

 at the top of the page.

 2nd Quarter-

 A research paper about an author you liked. The author must be from a book you read this quarter. 

The paper must be at least 1/2  page or more, but not to exceeed one page. Use the typing instructions

 at the top of the page.

 3rd Quarter-

 Make a poster to advertise your book on an 8 1/2 X 11 inch paper. 

 Include the title and the author on the poster. Also include a 1/2 page summary typed on a separte 

sheet of paper and stapled to the poster. Use the typing instructions at the top of the this page.

 4th Quarter-

 Type a 1 page paper about a favorite character you would like to become from

 a book you read this quarter. Give your name, the name of the book, and the author

 on the first line. On the first half of the paper give a brief summary of the book and on

 the second half of the paper tell why you chose to be that character. Follow the typing 

 instructions at the top of this paper.
