APPLIED MATHEMATICS I
Grades: 10-11 Length: Year
Prerequisite: Not available to anyone with 10 Algebra credits, teacher recommendation
This courses involves using mathematical skills in everyday living experiences. The students learn about the responsibilities of having a job, accumulating interest from a savings account, maintaining a checking account, renting a home or an apartment, paying utilities, shopping for groceries, buying a car, purchasing insurance policies, and paying taxes. A new problem is presented to the students almost everyday. Every problem requires some type of math skill in order to solve it.
APPLIED MATHEMATICS II
Grades: 10-12 Length: Year
Prerequisite: Pre-Algebra
Applied Math II is a non-college bound course providing review and continued practice in general math applications, and basic algebra and geometry. Students apply math concepts in a variety of hands-on situations.
