GRADING POLICY/EXPECTATIONS
The following will be the guidelines I will follow in my grading policy. Students will be graded in two areas. They include:
1. Effort, Attitude, and Conduct
2. Concerts and Performances
1. Effort, Attitude, and Conduct: The students will be recieving a daily grade in the classroom. The following will be the desired behavior that the student will adhere to, to receive the maximum of daily points. Grades will come out each quarter.
Effort - The student will:
a. always participate when asked to during rehearsals.
b. work to improve their body position during rehearsals.
c. use proper voice/instrumental techniques to the best of their ability.
d. keep a practice record to be turned in weekly for a grade
Attitude - The student will:
a. realize that following the director's directions will improve both themselves, as well as the group
b. realize that working with everyone in the group is essential for the success of the group
c. realize that even though they may not enjoy a composition at first, if they continue with their best through completion, they may, or may not change their mind
Conduct - The student will:
a. listen when directions are being given
b. use the correct English language( no profanity)
c. keep music and equipment in the best possible condition
d. keep gum and candy out of the mouth during rehearsal
2. Concerts and Performances: Playing tests will be given throughout the year on music that we are learning. Students will receive a number grade for this. Attendance is required for concerts and performances. These are major tests which if missed, may result in failure. Only extreme circumstances(ill health, or death of family member) will be excused.
