Scholarship
applications are available from the counselors office, or you may apply
online, or download the application from the scholarships web site. REMINDER SENIORS! It is your responsibility to obtain an application for any scholarship you wish to apply for and meeting the deadline for that scholarship. Seniors be sure to check the scholarship list every week for new scholarships. Make sure you follow the directions on completing the application!

October
Coca-Cola Scholarship (4 year College). Deadline : October 31 ( Must apply online at www.coca-colascholars.org after Sepember 1. Coca-Cola Scholarship (2 year College). check online at www.coca-colascholars.org for information for applying and deadlines.
Horatio Alger Scholarship. Deadline: Paper application October 30. Online application October 15, 2005. (Criteria: Must obtain scholarship online at www.horatioalger.com/scholarships/index.cfm. Meet the criteria set forth for applying. Minimum of 2.0 GPA).
Wells Fargo Bank Scholarships: (Crieria: Students must enroll in the CollegesSteps Program at www.wellsfargo.com/collegesteps.
Wells Fargo will hold eight drawings and award 100, $1.000 scholarships
Between October and May through the CollegeSteps Program. Entrants will
receive college-preparatory tips and are entered in the2006-2007
Scholarship sweepstakes. Applicants must enroll in the CollegeSteps
Program
November
Target Stores Scholarship. Deadline: November 1. Obtain an application
from the counselor's office. Applicant must mail application to the
address listed on the form. Applicants may download the application at Target Scholarship
Peter Kiewit Foundation Distinguished Scholar Award. Deadline: November 3. (Criteria: Complete application. Rank in the top 10% of class (90th percentile of class). Take the ACT or SAT)
University of Nebraska-Lincoln J.D. Edwards Honors:
Full tuition, room, board, books, and fees, renewable. Program is in
Computer Science and Management and requires ACT 31 or SAT 1340, GPA of
4.8/5.0, and top 10% of class. Apply online at their program web site
at http://jdedwards.unl.edu and apply for admissions. Deadline: November 19.
December
RHOP (Rural Health Opportunities Program) December 1. Wayne State, Chadron State
Colleges. (Criteria: 3 years of Math, 4 years of English, 1 year each
of biology, Chemistry, Physics. Applicant must apply for admission to
Wayne State or Chadron State. Applicant must complete application and
requirements for the RHOP program. Applicant may only select one health
career from the following. Dental Hygiene, Dentistry, Physician,
Pharmacy, Medical Technology. Selected participants will be guaranteed
admission into UNMC and receive full-tuition waiver while attending
either Wayne or Chadron.
Wayne State College John G. Neihardt Scholarship:
Full Tuition for 4 years - Requires an ACT score of 25, rank in top 25%
of class or 4.5/5.0 GPA, 2 letters of recommendation, and an essay. Deadline: December 1.
Shopko Scholarship. Deadline: December 1. (Criteria: Applications can be picked up from any shopko store, or they may be downloaded from the following site.Shopko Scholarship
Nebraska Softball Foundation Scholarship Program. Deadline: December 1. (Criteria:
Applicant must have been a member of a Nebraska ASA team, or team
manager, umpire or Nebraska ASA official. Minimum GPA 3.0, and a senior
in high school. Application maybe downloaded from www.nebraskasoftball.org or obtained from the counselors office.
Burger King Scholars. Deadline December 15. Criteria: Open to seniors who have at least a 2.5 GPA and work 15 hours a week. Obtain an application online at www.burgerking.com/CompanyInfo/community/BKScholars/2004.aspx.
Omaha World Herald/Kearney Hub Scholarship. Deadline: December 1. (Criteria: Complete
application and essay. Must have a minimum of 28 or above on ACT and be
ranked in the top 10% of the class. You may apply online at www.unk.edu/acad/honors/home/html). If you apply for one of the above scholarships from UNK you will be considered for the other if you meet the criteria.
AXA Achievement Scholarship. Deadline: December 1. Criteria: Open to seniors. Applicants must download application at AXA Scholarship.
All-ink.com scholarships. (Criteria: Applicants must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Criteria: Two essays are required 50-200 words. One on who has had the greatest impact on you life. The second essay: What
you hope to achieve in your personal and professional life after
completing college. Applications may be completed online at all-ink scholarship Deadline: December 31.
January
WALTER SCOTT JR. SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE PETER KIEWIT INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING Award:
Varies from $3,500 to $12,000 Criteria: For students planning to attend
PKI's College of Engineering and Technology or the College of
Information Science and Technology at UNO. Results in priority at the
Scott Residence Hall. Selection is based on ACT/SAT, GPA, class rank,
and school and community activities. Apply online at www.pki.nebraska.edu. Deadline: January 1.
Peter Kiewitt Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program. Deadline: January 7 (Criteria: Applicant must be ranked in the top 20% of graduating class. Complete application and its requirements.
Nebraska State Colleges Scholarships to Wayne, Chadron, Peru . Deadline: January 15. Criteria:
Must have a minimum of 25 on ACT, or 1130 on the SAT. Must apply and
attend one of the three state colleges. Completed application must be
mailed to the address on the application. Applications are available
from the counselors office).Wayne State College Leadership Scholarship:
Room Waiver - Student must be very active in high school leadership
roles and plan to continue that involvement at the college level. Deadline: January 15. University of Nebraska-Lincoln Honors Program. Deadline: January 15 (Criteria: Apply for admission online. Complete application. www.unl.edu/scholfa/. Check with your academic college for other scholarships they may offer).
Elks " Most Valuable Student" Scholarship. Deadline: January 14. (Criteria:
Complete application and requirements. Open to any high school senior.
Directions on application must be followed exactly or the application
will be disqualified. Send completed application to York State Bank

Elks Past Exalted Ruler Scholarship. Deadline: January 9. (Crietria:

Chadron State College Scholarships. Deadline: January 15. Criteria: Apply for admission. Complete scholarship application.
WILLA CATHER FOUNDATION: NORMA ROSS WALTER SCHOLARSHIP. Deadline: January 31. (Criteria: Female
seniors from Nebraska high schools planning to enroll as English
majors. Considers intellectual promise, creativity and character of
applicant. Requires three letters of recommendation, transcripts, and
an essay. Award: Approx. $2,000 renewable)
February
Northeast Community College Scholarships. Deadline: February 1 (Criteria: Apply for admission. Apply
for financial aid by filling out the FAFSA form, and financial aid
worksheet for Northeast Community College. A variety of scholarships
are available. Students should check the scholarship book to see which
ones they may qualify to apply for.
NCSA/Wells Fargo Scholarship. Deadline: February 1
(Criteria: Applicant
must write an essay on how a counselor has helped in their educational
development. Application may be obtained from the following

MARHOP-Wayne State College/Creighton University. Deadline: February 1 Criteria: Students
apply for admission into one of the specialilzed areas. Occupational
Therapy, Pharmacy, and Physical Therapy. Students are guarnteed
pre-admission to Creighton University .
US Bank Scholarship. Deadline: February 28 (Criteria: Open to all seniors.USbank will award 30 $1.000 scholarships. Applicant must apply online at USbank Scholarship
University of Nebraska Honors Program. Deadline: February 2 (Criteria:
Complete application and essays. Must have a minimum of 26 or above on
ACT and be ranked in the top 25% of class. You may apply online at www.unk.edu/acad/honors/home.html).
Lincoln Community Foundation Scholarships. Deadline: February 9 (Criteria:
Applicants must be planning on seeking a degree in education, or attend
a high school which is a member of the Nebraska Rural Community Schools
Association. Applicant must plan on attending a public or private
college in Nebraska. Must have a gpa of 3.5 or higher, and a 22 or
better ACT score, or a composite score of 1030 on the SAT. Obtain an
application from the LCF site at lcf scholarships.
Knights of Aksarben Leadership Scholarship. Deadline: February 11. (Criteria:
Complete application. Ranked in the top 50% of class. Leadership,
Academic achievement, desire to earn a college degree, financial need.
Follow directions of application . May obtain application from website
at www.aksarben.org/programs/scholarship.htm ).
Knights of Aksarben Ike Friedman Student Leadership Award.Deadline: February 11. (Criteria:
Complete application and its requirements. Open to any high school
senior. Follow the directions of the application. May obtain
application from website at www.aksarben.org/programs/scholarship.htm ).
Nebraska Machinery Sponsorship Program Scholarship. Deadline: February 15. (Criteria:
Apply for the diesel program at Central Community College at Hastings.
Scholarship provides tuition, fees, tools and books (Approximately
$8.000 value). Applicant must take the Asset test and visit and be
accepted into CCC of Hastings. Student must agree to work for Nebraska
Machinery Company for a minimum of two years after graduating from CCC
of Hastings).
Blue Valley Community Action (BVCA) Partnership Scholarship Program. Deadline: February 1. (Criteria:
Complete application and its requirements. BVCA Partnership Scholarship
will be awarded to 3 students who plan to attend a 4-year college. BVCA
Partnership Vocational Scholarship will be awarded to 3 students who
plan to attend a 2 year college. Application can be obtain from
counselors file of scholarships or at www.bvca.net ).
WAL*MART 2005/ SAM WALTON COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP. Deadline: February 1. (Criteria:
Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, ACT or SAT results, must not be
sons and daughters of Wal-Mart associates or work at Wal-Mart (they
have a separate program for employees). Considers extracurricular
activities, work experience, and financial need. Applications and
needed materials may be obtained by going to the following site Wal-Mart/Sam's Club Scholarship.
Conservation Scholarship sponsored by the Nat'l Turkey Foundation. Deadline February 1. Applicant
must have a minimum gpa of 3.0. Support preservation of hunting
tradition, be involved in one of the following areas. FFA, Science
Club, Student Council, Ecology Club. Applications can be downloaded

Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship. Deadline: February 15 Criteria:
Applicants family must be actively engaged in producation agriculture.
Minimum ACT of 18 or SAT 850. Applicant must pursue an area of study
related to agriculture. Complete applicaiton. Application can be

Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers. Deadline: February 2. Criteria: Applicant must pursue a area of study in engineering.
Nebraska Roping Horse Association Ray Warren/Tom Frost Memorial Scholarship. Deadline: February 28. Criteria: Applicant
must be in the upper 1/4 of class and have a minimum of 26 on the ACT.
Complete application and the requirements. Complete an essay about your
involvement, and or interest in agriculture, ranching, horses, general
livestock, 4-H, or related field.
Sam Walton Community Scholarship. Deadline: February 1.
(Criteria: Complete application. Application and required material must
be returned to the local Wal-mart or Sam's Club location in a sealed
envelope with the student's name, address, and high school name on the
outside of the envelope). Best Buy Scholarship. Deadline: February 15. Criteria: Applicant must apply online at Best Buy and clicking on Community Relation at the bottom of the page).
GPACAC Scholarship. Deadline: February 15. (Criteria:
Applicants' ACT must range from 20-28, and the SAT score range must be
950-1260. Complete application and send it to the address stated in the
guidelines. Applications may be obtained from the counselors offrice.ESA Foundation . Deadline: February 1. Criteria:
Students may apply for one of the scholarships offered. Qualifications
vary. Students must have a B average. Applicants may obtain an
application from the site at ESA Scholarship. Applicants must pay a $5processing fee. Platte Valley Cattleman. Deadline: February 18. Applicants
must live in either Platte, Butler, Colfax, and Polk counties.
Applicant must be pursuing a study in an Agriculture related field.
Applications may be obtain from the counselor's office.
March
York PEO Scholarship
Deadline: March 1 Criteria: Open
to senior girls fromt he following high schools: Centennial, Cross
County, Heartland, McCool Junction, Nebraska Lutheran, York. Applicant
must be in the top 1/4 of the class. Obtain an application from the
counselor's office
Union Bank/Lincoln Journal Star Money to Learn Scholarship. Deadline: March 1. (Criteria: Applicants must be in the upper 1/3 of the class, attend college in Nebraska, Act score of 20 or above,
complete application with signatures by the deadline to the address
listed on the application. One applicant will be selected each week
starting November 21, 2004 through March. Applicant will be announced
in the Lincoln Journal Star. Applications may be obtained fromMoney to Learn Scholarship. Central Community College Scholarship. Deadline: March 1. Criteria: Complete
application form. Application and recommendation forms may be obtained
from the counselor's office or downloaded from the college website at www.cccneb.edu
Southeast Community College President's Scholarship, Milford Campus. Deadline: March 1. Criteria:
Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Completed four semesters of
algebra and/or advanced math classes. Demonstrate positive citizenship
and leadership skills. Must attend SCC-Milford Campus.
Clarks Telecom Scholarship. Deadline: March 20 (Criteria: www.clarks.net). Applicants
must be a customer of Clarks Telecom using one of the following
services Clarks.net DSL, Clarks Cable TV, DIRECTV, DIRECTWAY, Dial-up
Internet. Complete the application online at
KFRX Wells-Fargo Scholarship. Deadline: March 1 (Criteria: Obtain an application from counselor. Complete the application and mail to KFRX/WellsFargo Scholarship Club 3800 Cornhusker Hwy Lincoln, Nebraska 68504).
SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS (Check with each campus site for scholarships specifically offered through that campus) (BEATRICE/LINCOLN/MILFORD): www.southeast.edu/ Click on Financial Aid and Scholarships. Educational Foundation:
$500 - Preference is given to those who rank in top 50% of class,
extracurricular activities, brief essay, transcripts, and a letter of
recommendation. Click on the link above to download an application. Deadline: March 1. Martin Luther King, Jr.
(Milford): Award varies - Preference is given to members of under
represented groups/racial or ethnic minorities, single parents, and
students entering non-traditional careers. Requires a brief statement. Optimist (Beatrice): $500 - Selection based on school and community activities, three references.
York Community Foundation Maurie Van Nostrand Memorial Scholarship. Deadline: March 1 (Criteria:
Complete application and its requirements. Previously given to a senior
of Benedict High school. Applicant must be from the Benedict

York Community Foundation Peterson Family Memorial Scholarship. Deadline: March 1 (Criteria:
Complete application and its requirements. Previously given to a senior
of Benedict High School. Applicant must be from the Benedict

York Community Foundation Jodelle A. Obermier Scholarship. Deadline: March 15. (Criteria:
Applicant must be in the top 50% of class, demonstrate financial need,
be a resident of York county, complete application, write an essay on a
topic to be given with the application, attend a community/vocational
college, any four y ear college, (Note: any church related college is
limited to those that are accredited by the North Central Accreditation
or an accreditation group of equal status. Mail application to Mrs.

York Community Foundation Winsor Tucker Scholarship. Applications may be obtained from the counselor's office. Deadline March 15 (Criteria: Applicants
must follow application instructions correctly or scholarship committee
will void application. Applicant must reside in York County. Must be in
the top 15% of the graduating class. Take college preparatory classes
in high school. Must have a minimum ACT composite of 27. Mail

Nebraska State Firefighters Association Auxiliary Scholarship. Deadline: March 1.
(Criteria: Applicant must have a gpa of 2.5 or higher. May attend a 2
or 4 year college. Compelete application and its requirements.
Applicant must write a 100- word essay on given topic. Appications may
be obtained from the counselors office).
Grand Island Community Foundation A.M. Hargis Scholarship. Deadline: March 1. Criteria: Complete
application. Preference given to students who are seeking a degree
through Central Community College, Lincoln School of Commerce, or other
technical institutions in Business, Health, or Travel and Tourism
course of study. Polk County Foundation Scholarship. Deadline: March 15. Applicant must be a resident of Polk County. Application may be obtained from the counelor's office. Application will need to be mailed to the address on the application.
National Aviation Trades Association Scholarship. Deadline: March 15.
(Criteria: Must complete application. Write a 400 word essay on topic
provided to you. Recommendation must be made by a member of the NATA)
Knights of Aksarben Community College Scholarship. Deadline: March 19. (Criteria:
Complete Application. Application must be sent to the financial aid
office of the community college the applicant plans to attend. Follow
directions of application. May obtain application from website at www.aksarben.org/programs/scholarship.htm)
Platte Valley Cattleman Association Scholarship. Deadline: March 5. (Criteria:
Applicant must reside in one of the following counties. Butler, Colfax,
Platte, Polk. Applications may be obtained from the counselors office).
Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship. Deadline: March 31.
( Criteria: Applicant must plan on entering the teaching field. Return
application to the address listed in the guidelines. Applications may
be obtained from the counselors offrice.
The
American Legion Auxiliary sponsors the following scholarships. All
applications must be turned into the local Auxiliary by the deadline.
Applicant must meet the requirements to apply for any of the American
Legion Auxiliary scholarships. See application for instructions.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY: AVERYL ELAINE KERIAKEDES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Deadline: March 26 Criteria:
Offered to female students related to a veteran. She should plan to
attend UNL and teach middle or junior high school Social Studies.
Requires three letters of recommendation, letter from applicant,
transcripts, and family financial statement.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY: LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP Deadline: March 26 Criteria:
Applicant must be related to a veteran and a resident of Nebraska at
least three years prior to applying. Requires three letters of
recommendation, a letter from the applicant, transcripts, family
financial statement, and a letter of acceptance to a practical nursing
school.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY: NATIONAL PRESIDENT'S SCHOLARSHIP Deadline: March 10 Criteria:
Applicant must be daughters or sons of veterans who served in the Armed
Forces during eligibility dates (Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, etc.)
and 50 hours of documented community service. Requires four letters of
recommendation, transcripts, and an essay. Selection based on
character, Americanism, leadership, financial need, and scholarship.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY: NURSE'S GIFT TUITION SCHOLARSHIP Deadline: March 26 Criteria:
Student planning to pursue a degree in nursing. Requires a letter from
the applicant, transcripts, four letters of recommendation, family
financial statement, and letter of acceptance to a nursing school.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY: ROBERTA MARIE STRETCH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Deadline: March 26 Criteria:
Applicant must be a resident of Nebraska, related to a veteran, with
preference given to former Nebraska Girls State citizens. Requires
three letters of recommendation, letter from the applicant,
transcripts, family financial statement, and a letter of acceptance to
a school of higher education.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY: RUBY LORRAINE PAUL & CAMPAIGN FUND SCHOLARSHIPS: Deadline: March 26 Criteria:
Applicant must be a daughter, son, granddaughter or grandson of an
American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary member in Nebraska for two
years and a Nebraska resident for three years. Requires 4.0/5.0 GPA
last two semesters of high school, three letters of recommendation, an
essay, family financial statement, a letter of acceptance to an
accredited school.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY: SPIRIT OF YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP: Deadline: March 26 Criteria:
Applicant must be a junior member of the American Legion Auxiliary for
the past three years and hold membership card for current year.
Requires GPA of 4.0/5.0, four letters of recommendation (one each from
guidance counselor or principal and clergy; two from adult citizens),
essay, and transcripts including ACT/SAT scores.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY: STUDENT AID GRANT OR VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP: Deadline: March 26 Criteria:
Nebraska resident and related to a veteran. Requires three letters of
recommendation, a letter from the applicant, transcripts, family
financial statement, and letter of acceptance to an accredited school.
AMERICAN LEGION: (YEAR) MAYNARD JENSEN AMERICAN LEGION MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. Deadline: March 1 Criteria:
Applicant must be sons or daughters, grandchildren or great
grandchildren, adopted or stepchildren of members of the Department of
Nebraska, The American Legion or POW, MIA, KIA, or any veteran that was
a current American Legion member at the time of death.
Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does, York Drove #7. Deadline: March 31. Criteria:
Open to all seniors who are residents' of York County. Applications may
be obtained from the counselor's office. Applications must be mailed to
the address stated on the application).
Husker Harvest Days Agricultural Scholarship. Deadline: March 15. Criteria: Applicant must pursue a degree in agriculture/agribusiness. A school may only send in one application.
April
York Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Scholarship. Deadline April 1. Applicant
must live in York County and pursue an area of study in an agricultural
field. Application's may be obtain from from the
counselor's office.
Warren Buffett Foundation Scholarship. Deadline: April 10 (Criteria: The application can be obtained from www.buffettscholarships.org or
application can be obtain from the file in the counselors office.
Applicant must attend a university or colleges in Nebraska state school
system (UNK, UNL, UNO, Chadron, Peru, Wayne) and community colleges and
trade schools within Nebraska. Applicant must apply for financial aid
through the colleges financial aid office of their choice also. Buffett
Foundation scholarships will be provided for up to 5 years for 4 years
and up to 3 years for 2-year schools, or until graduation, whichever
comes first? IMPORTANT CRITERIA!!! YOUR APPLICATION IS JUDGED ON HOW
WELL YOU FOLLOW THE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS.
Raymond A. Burke Scholarship: Deadline: April 5. Criteria:
Applicant's area of study must lead to an associate or undergraduate
degree in natural resources-related field. Reside in the Upper Big Blue
Natural Resources District. Obtain an application from the website at www.upperbigblue.org. Polk County Farm Bureau Scholarship: Deadline: April 15 Criteria:
Parents must be a member of Polk County Farm Bureau. Application may be
obtained from the counselor's office. Application must be returned to
the Farm Bureau Financial Services Box 521 Osceola, Nebraska.
Nebraska Conversation Officers' Association Scholarship. Deadline: April 15. Criteria: Write an essy on the topic "Why I want to be a Conservation Officer". Application may be obtained from the counselor's office.
Nebraska Coaches Association/Farm Bureau Insurance Company Scholarship. Deadline: April 1. Criteria:
Applicant must be a 2 year particiapnt in 2 sports, must of earned a
varsity letter in 2 sports, minimum ACT score of 24 and be ranked in
the top 25% of the class, supply one letter of recommendation froma
high school coach. Applications may be obtained from the counselors
office).
York General Hospital Scholarship. Deadline: April 1. Criteria: Applicant must pursue a study in a health career. Applications may be obtained from the counselor's office).
Carriage House Scholarship. Deadline: April 2. Criteria:
Applicant must pursue a field of study in automotive technology.

York Elks Lodge Scholarship. Deadline: April 9. Criteria:
Complete application, which can be obtained form the counselor's
office. Open to all high school seniors'. Application must be returned
