COMPUTERS II
Grade 10
TECH PREP CREDIT--prerequisite Computers I
Computers II is primarily focused on sharpening skills and increased production rates. Advanced computer features of word processing, database, spreadsheets, macros, desktop publishing, web design, charting, graphics, and multimedia are emphasized utilizing different software programs. Students will demonstrate competency by utilizing appropriate software for specific tasks. Ethical issues, safety and security policies as well as using resource materials and technology research will be implemented into the course.
EVALUATION

BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS
Grades 11 or 12 (One Semester)
Prerequisite Computers II
In Business Communications, students will become knowledgable about the principles of effective communication. They will demonstrate competency by selecting and using appropriate forms of communication while working individually and in groups. Students will understand career preparation and job acquisition skills required for employment, professional growth, and employment transitions in their chosen careers. Students will also work with various business document formats applying correct grammar, mechanics, and composition rules. A portfolio will be developed of various composition projects and activities. Units of instruction on intercultural communication, research writing, presentations, technical reading and writing, and international communication will also be addressed.

BUSINESS LAW
Grades 11 or 12 (One Semester)
Prerequisite Computers II
In Business Law students will understand the legal rights and responsibilities relevant to personal and business practices. They will demonstrate competency by analyzing and applying personal and business data to court cases and other scenerios. A focus on law and community involvement along with careers in law will be discussed. As businesses expand and people travel, it is important to learn about other countries and cultures. The judical system and other legal facts of other countries will be spotlighted. Critical thinking questions along with research activities will be part of the course.

TECHNOLOGY PROCEDURES
Grade 12 TECH PREP CREDIT--prerequisite Business Communications and Business Law
Rapid new development in technology have propelled us very quickly into the age of information sharing. Today, microcomputers, telecommunications, desktop publishing, and local area networks have pushed office automation technology into a new and exciting age of information sharing. This course will help prepare students to enter the business world where one will find many types of office environments as well as different types of management and human relations styles. It will cover procedures relating to handling communications, scheduling, organizing work activities, processing information, organizing and managing records, handling financial and legal tasks, supervising others, and managing one's own career. Proper computer use as well as safety and security policies will be used in diagnosing, evaluating, and identifying the use of software to solve specific problems. It will also cover strategies for handling the challenges one will face in the future.
