Check Out the Tech Prep Courses That
Twin River High School Has
Articulated with Central Community College
Central Community College offers high school students the opportunity to get a head start on college.
What is Tech Prep?
Tech Prep is a restructuring of the educational process designed to prepare students for high skilled technology careers. Tech Prep courses offered in high schools in the Central Community College service area give students the opportunity to earn college credit before graduating from high school. Students get a head start on college and save time and money by eliminating the need to repeat skills training at Central Community College that was already mastered in high school.
Students are able to take several high school courses and earn not only high school credit but also college credit at no cost to students or parents. Students must receive an "A" or a "B" each quarter to qualify. Tech Prep courses emphasize "hands on learning" and directly connect the subject matter with the world of work.
At Twin River High School, the following classes are articulated with Central Community College. Again as long as students receive an "A" or a "B" average each quarter, they are eligible to receive college credit. The articulated high school courses must be related to the program students plan to pursue in order for the credit to be granted at the college level. Remember, Tech Prep was designed for high school students planning on furthering their education at Central Community College. Students attending colleges other than Central Community College can have their credits transferred with a college transcript and the receiving institution has final say in determining the transferability of the credits.
