Mrs. Konwinski‚s
Family & Consumer Science Class Procedures
Rules:
- Students will be expected to follow all of the rules outlined in the student handbook.
- Students will be expected to act as responsible young adults. They should respect the teacher, other students, and the property of others. Misbehavior will result in a WARNING! If it continues it may result in a 15 minute detention or a blue card.
- Students should come prepared to class. They should bring paper, pencil or pen (black or blue ink), and a notebook to store handouts from the class.
- Students may not have their cell phones in the FCS Classroom.
- Students will be allowed to chew gum during class, as long as it is not seen or heard. No other food or drink (with the exception of water) will be allowed in the classroom.
Grading:
Students will be graded on a point system per assignment. Each assignment or test is designated an amount of points. Students may earn up to the maximum of designated points. For example:
If a student missed 5 of the 25 possible points, they would earn 20 out of the 25 points or an 80%.
At the end of the quarter the total amount of points the student earned will be divided by the total possible points to determine their final grade. Students will also be given opportunity to earn extra credit points by keeping their assignment book up-to-date and a variety of other activities. Remember grades are earned not given!!!
Homework:
Assignments are expected to be turned in on time! If you do not turn your assignment in on time you will be given a WARNING! You will have 1 WARNING per quarter. If your assignment is late a 2nd time you will receive a deduction of 10% from your grade. If your assignment is late a 3rd time you will have a 15 minute detention after school and a deduction of 10% from your grade. If incidents occur beyond this it will result in a 30 minute detention and a Zero on the assignment.
Absences are the student‚s responsibility to find out what the assignment was and make up the work in the two days allowed per day missed. This means you have the day you return and until the end of the next school day to turn it in, after that the assignment will be considered late.
Labs/ Projects:
Students may be asked to work in lab/project groups, in which they will be working towards a group grade. Each student in the group will receive the same grade.
Students in FCS 8 will be completing graded sewing projects. They will be ordering a project kit which will be purchased by the student.
