Thank you for visiting my website. You may see me referred to as the speech and language clinician, pathologist, or therapist. I serve children birth-21 in the areas of speech (how you say something) and language (what you say). Currently, I serve children at both Boone Central campuses, two parochial schools, the local Head Start program and South Akron School/Boone #60. Additionally, I serve homebound children in the birth-three age range. Children are referred for services in my area due to concerns about speech sound use, grammar, vocabulary acquisition and use, pragmatics (social use of language), voice quality and fluency (stuttering). In the state of Nebraska, speech and language services fall under the auspices of Nebraska Department of Education Rule 51.
I am a native of southwest Kansas. I attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS, earning a BA in Communication and an MS in Communication Disorders. I received additional training at Parsons State Hospital in Parsons, KS and at what is now known as Munroe-Meyer Institute in Omaha, NE. I live in Albion with my husband, Doug, and our children, Kyle and Molly. My professional affiliations include the Boone Central Education Association, the Nebraska State Education Association, the National Education Association, the Nebraska Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. I am also a proud charter member of the local Please Read to Me committe that gifts new babies with books to encourage early literacy habits in the home.
If you have concerns about your child's speech and/or language development, feel free to contact me at
pyoung@esu7.org or 402-395-2134.
