sok:

My name is Amy Sokol.  My husband, Doug, and I have two children.  Callie is a 7th grader at Sctous and Landon is a 3rd grader at St. Anthony School.  I have taught 4th grade here at St. Anthony's since 1991.  What I enjoy most about teaching 4th grade is how much the students grow during the school year.  In my free time, I spend lots of time with Callie and Landon and their activities.  I also enjoy running, reading, and baking.

The 4th graders have been busy preparing for and completing our Iowa Tests of Basic Skills.  The students worked very hard, and I am confident they gave their best effort. A special thank you to the parents that supplied extra treats for the students during that week.

The month of October is going to be extremely busy for us.  We are working on making change and counting it back in math.  In Language, we are finishing our unit on nouns.  We can tell you about all the different types of nouns, and we can use them correctly in out writing.  In Religion, we will be working on our Rosary booklets.  What a fun way for us to remember the Mysteries of the Rosary.  In Social Studies, we will be finishing up our atlas activities, and begin diving into our Nebraska History books.  Reading continues to be an exciting new adventure for us.  We are having lots of fun learning new vocabulary words and reading a wide variety of genres.

PLEASE HELP your student practice their basic math flashcards and read at least 15 minutes a day.  Those two very simple activities can help your student to grow leaps and bounds this year.

The 4th graders will be planning mass on 10-9 and 10-23.

Jared has a birthday on October 22.

Be looking for more information about our upcoming Visitors' Day.  There are many fun activities planned for that day.

Here is God' promise on the subject of prayer:  "Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything.  Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done.  If you do this, you will experience God's peace.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."  Larry Davies
