08-21-07 Welcome Back Mass & Picnic

Home About

The St. Francis School Community gathered on Tuesday, August 21st
to begin the school year with what has become an annual Mass and
BBQ.

Fr. Wayne, Chaplain of the High School, celebrated the Mass on the
Memorial of St. Pius X.  Pius X was Pope from 1903 - 1914.  It was
Pius X that advocated that Catholics should recieve the Eucharist
frequently.  Up until his enouragement, people might receive the
Eucharist only every few years.  Pius helped us realize that we need
the grace God offers each day of our lives.

About 200 gathered to celebrate Eucharist and share in the Body
and Blood of Christ.  Fr. Wayne shared that each of us are called
to be people who will spread the good news to every person we
meet by all that we say and do.  As Christians, we not only
consume the Body of Christ, we are called to become the Body
of Christ to a world that far too often has lights that are contrary
to our Christian beliefs.

After the Mass,  a potluck picnic was shared by all present.
Hot Dogs, Fr. Wayne's favorite meal, were grilled by the School
Board and people who came and attended the celebration brought
their favorite salad/side dish/dessert to share.   There was plenty
for all who came, and it was a great welcome back for our school
community.
