Serra Club Altar Server Award Winners

By Darron Arlt

Five Altar Servers from St. Francis Parish were recently recognized by the Serra Club of the Omaha Archdiocese for outstanding service to the parish as an altar server.  Brandon Veik, Rachel Lubischer, Alexis Arlt, Conner Eisenmeneger, and Michael McPhillips received Serra Club medals and certificate at a special Mass at St. Bonaventure Church in Raeville.  The certificate reads:  "In appreciation for continuing service to the parish community by assisting in celebration of the Eucharist."  They were chosen because of their record of attendance, their attitude, their generosity, and their presence during the Mass.

SERRA is named after the Franciscan Missionary, Junipero Serra- Founder of many of the California Missions. It was founded in 1935 in Seattle Washington by a small group of Catholic laymen who saw the need to foster vocations to religious life, both by recruiting vocations and by supporting those religious in their active careers. As of 1995 there are 607 active clubs with over 23,00 members in 31 countries.
