The Archdiocese of Omaha has determined a list of essential Catholic practices and prayers for each grade level K-12. Below is a list of the essential Catholic practices and prayers as determined for 6th grade students in our archdiocese. Following each, I have indicated the way in which each will be covered during our school year.
Sign of the Cross-daily prayer, individual oral testing
Glory Be-daily prayer, individual oral testing
The Lord's Prayer-daily prayer, individual oral testing
Hail Mary-daily prayer, individual oral testing
Meal Prayers-daily prayer, individual oral testing
Guardian Angel Prayer-daily prayer, ind. oral testing
Act of Contrition-daily prayer, individual oral testing
Reconciliation-Review instruction at times prior to receiving the sacrament during the school year / those times to be determined by Fr. Tom
Liturgy of the Word-lessons sprinkled throughout the Religion textbook and participation in Mass each Tues. & Fri. that school is in session
Liturgy of the Eucharist-lessons sprinkled throughout the Religion textbook and participation in Mass each Tues. & Fri. that school is in session
Communion-lessons sprinkled throughout the Religion textbook and reception of communion as desired during Mass each Tues. & Fri. that school is in session
Apostles Creed-daily prayer, individual oral testing
Ten Commandments-lesson in the Religion textbook and one segment of our weekly written tests
Sacraments-lessons in the Religion textbook and one segment of our weekly written tests
Nicene Creed-recitation of during Masses when it is said, lesson in Religion book
Order of the Mass-experiencing whenever we attend school Masses
Rosary/Mysteries-instruction throughout the school year and five different segments of our weekly written tests
Stations of the Cross-pray a shortened form each day during Lent with participation in the Stations with the whole grade school on the Fridays of Lent, included on a Religion test during Lent
Benediction-as provided in the parish with accompanying classroom instruction
Precepts of the Church-classroom instruction with the Holy Days of Obligation being one segment of our weekly written tests
Theological/Cardinal Virtues-introduced in classroom instruction
The archdiocese also has a list of optional Catholic prayers and practices. I'm not listing all of them, just the ones we will cover.
Morning Prayer-daily prayer, individual oral testing

Meditate on the Scriptures-prayer services that are included in the Religion textbook
