The Ten Commandments
1. I am the Lord you God: you shall
not have strange gods before me.
2. You shall not take the name of the
Lord your God in vain.
3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's Day.
4. Honor your father and your mother.
5. You shall not kill.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
7. You shall not steal.
8. You shall not bear false witness
against your neighbor.
9. You shall not covet your neighbor¡Ùs wife.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor¡Ùs goods.
The Precepts of the Church
1. Celebrate Christ¡Ùs Resurrection every Sunday
(or Saturday evening)
and on holy days of Obligation
by taking part in Mass
and avoiding unnecessary work.
2. Lead a sacramental life.
Receive Holy Communion frequently and
the sacrament of Reconciliation regularly.
We must receive Holy Communion
at least once a year between
the first Sunday of Lent and Trinity Sunday.
We must celebrate Reconciliation once a year
if we have committed mortal, or serious, sin.
3. Study Catholic teaching throughout life,
especially in preparing for the sacraments,
and continue to grow in faith.
4. Observe the marriage laws of the Church
and give religious instruction
and formation to one¡Ùs children.
5. Contribute to the support of the Church:
one¡Ùs own parish community, priests,
the whole Church, and the pope.
6. Do penance, including not eating meat
and fasting from food on certain days.
7. Join in the missionary work of the Church.

The Holy Days of Obligation
1. Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God,
January 1
Jesus was truly human and truly divine.
Mary is the mother of Jesus,
both human and divine.
2. Ascension,
Forty days after Easter, on a Thursday
Forty days after he rose from the dead,
Jesus returned to his father in heaven.
3. Assumption of Mary,
August 15
When Mary¡Ùs life on earth was over,
she was taken to heaven
both body and soul.
4. All Saints Day,
November 1
We honor all the people in heaven
whether officially declared a saint or not.
5. Immaculate Conception,
December 8
Mary was born without original sin,
and she did not commit sin during
her entire life.
6. Christmas,
December 25
Jesus was born as a baby in Bethlehem.
The Incaration - God became man.
The Stations of the Cross
1. Jesus is condemned to die.
2. Jesus takes up his cross.
3. Jesus falls the first time.
4. Jesus meets his mother.
5. Simon helps Jesus carry his cross.
6. Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.
7. Jesus falls the second time.
8. Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem.
9. Jesus falls the third time.
10. Jesus is stripped of his garments.
11. Jesus is nailed to the cross.
12. Jesus dies on the cross.
13. Jesus is taken down from the cross.

Praying the Rosary
1. Hold the crucifix and pray
the Apostles¡Ù Creed.
2. Pray the Lord¡Ùs Prayer when
holding each single bead.
3. Pray the Hail Mary on each bead
in a group of three or ten.
A group of ten Hail Mary¡Ùs
is called a decade of the rosary.
4. After each group of Hail Mary¡Ùs,
pray the Glory Be to the Father.
5. After each Glory Be, pray
the Fatima Prayer.
6. Close the rosary by praying the
Hail, Holy Queen.
The Five Joyful Mysteries
1. The Annunciation
God sent the angel Gabriel to ask
Mary to be the mother of Jesus.
Mary answered, ¡∫Yes.¡Ö
2. The Visitation
Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth,
who was going to have a baby.
3. The Nativity
Jesus was born as a baby in Bethlehem.
The Incarnation - God became man.
4. The Presentation
Following the laws
of their Jewish faith, Mary and Joseph
traveled to the Temple in Jerusalem to present the
baby Jesus to God.
5. The Finding of Jesus in the Temple
Mary and Joseph thought Jesus was
lost. They found him in the Temple in
Jerusalem teaching the teachers.
The Five Luminous Mysteries
(Mysteries of Light)
1. The Baptism of the Lord
Jesus was baptized by John in the
Jordan River.
God announced that Jesus was his son.
Jesus began his public life.
2. The Wedding at Cana
Jesus performed his first miracle
when he turned the water into wine.
Jesus showed the power of God.
3. Proclamation of the Kingdom
Jesus told the Good News about
the Kingdom of God.
Jesus told the people to repent of
their sins and to trust in God's
merciful love.
4. The Transfiguration
While praying on a mountain,
Jesus¡Ù face changed appearance,
and his clothes became dazzling
white. Jesus showed the glory
of God.
5. The Institution of the Eucharist
At the Last Supper, Jesus changed
the bread and wine into his body
and blood. When we receive the
Eucharist, we are united with
Jesus.
The Five Sorrowful Mysteries
1. The Agony in the Garden
After the Last Supper, Jesus went
to the Garden of Gethsemane to
pray. When Jesus thought of all our
sins, he sweat droplets of blood.
2. The Scourging at the Pillar
The soldiers beat Jesus with a
barbed whip.
3. The Crowning with Thorns
In order to make fun of Jesus,
the soldiers placed a crown of
piercing thorns on his head.
4. The Carrying of the Cross
Jesus carried his own cross to
Calvary.
5. The Crucifixion and Death
Jesus was hung on the cross and died.
The Five Glorious Mysteries
1. The Resurrection
On Easter Sunday, Jesus rose from
the dead to new life.
2. The Ascension
Forty days after he rose from the dead,
Jesus returned to his father in heaven.
3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit came upon Mary,
the Apostles, and others in the form
of wind and fire.
They were given the courage to speak
about Jesus.
The Christian Church had begun.
4. The Assumption
When Mary's life on earth was over,
she was taken to heaven
both body and soul.
5. The Coronation
Mary is crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth.
Mary sits in a position of honor in heaven.
