Senior English

Home About

The St. Francis senior English class have studied early English literature centered around the reading of the ancient epic,"Beowulf". This piece of literature is significant to today because it is believed to be the first piece of literature to be composed in English by one author.

The seniors are studying the novel "October Sky" by Homer Hickem. This is a true story of life in Coalwood, a coal mining town in West Virginia. Numerous related projects of writing, vocabulary, and discussion are being done in connection with the book.

In addition to the study of literature, students are writing a research paper using APA style.

The second semester students in my senior class will be taking a dual-credit creative writing class. They will receive credit at St. Francis High School as well as earning three hours of college credit at Central Community College in Columbus.
