Expectations for Mrs. Schumacher's English Classes

Home About

Class Expectations: Be READY, RESPONSIBLE, AND RESPECTFUL

1. Come to class READY to work with all necessary materials and be in your assigned seat when the bell rings.

2. You are RESPONSIBLE for your homework assignments. Daily assignments will be due at the beginning of class. I will not accept late assignments.

3. I will treat each of you and myself with RESPECT. I expect that you will also treat yourself, your fellow students, and me with RESPECT.

4. Finally, as you are students at St. Francis, I expect that you will follow all guidelines and regulations in the student handbook. Knowing what is written in the handbook shows me that you are READY to be in a St. Francis classroom and following the handbook shows RESPONSIBILITY and RESPECTFULNESS.

Scoring

1. Student work will be scored on a point system with the use of rubrics and other techniques.

2. If you are ill or have another significant problem completing assignments, please come talk to me and we will set an extension on the due date for daily work.

3. If you are unable to complete an assignment due to computer problems, talk to me. My advice is to use your class time wisely, save often, and back your work up with a disc.

Tests

1. I do not generally give retakes on tests. We cover concepts thoroughly during class. I give ample opportunity for you to ask questions. Please use this time wisely and never be afraid to ask a question to clarify your understanding. If a majority of the class does poorly on a test, however, I will revisit the material with the entire class and those who choose to do so will have the opportunity for a retake.

2. I am available to help you during access time and during work time in class. Talk to me if you are having difficulty. I am here to help you succeed.
